Imagine waking up in a 19th-century railway station, once a meeting point between Portugal and Spain, now transformeda comfortable and character-filled retreat in the heart of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park. Train Spot Guesthouse, in the village of Beirã (Marvão), offers much more than just a place to sleep — here, you experience a journey through time, surrounded by the tranquility of nature and the rich culture of the Portuguese-Spanish borderlands.

The main building, with 400 m², has been carefully adapted to accommodate up to 14 guests exclusively, preserving the soul and original architectural details of the station. For larger groups, there are also two independent apartments on the same property, each accommodating up to 4 people, allowing for a total capacity of 22 guests.

Inside, the large lounge (80 m²) with air conditioning is the perfect meeting point for meals, gatherings, or social moments. There’s also a separate living room with sofas, a TV, and board games, as well as a fully equipped kitchen for those who prefer to prepare their own meals. Outside, a covered porch and a garden invite you to enjoy the long Alentejo afternoons.

A year-round destination
During your stay, you can explore both the Portuguese and Spanish sides of the border. We’re just minutes from Marvão, Castelo de Vide, and the Roman ruins of Ammaia, but also close to Cáceres and Badajoz in Spain. Nature and history go hand in hand here: hiking trails, birdwatching, Railbikes along the old tracks, horseback riding, and visits to historic villages are just some of the experiences available.

Double or Twin Room. Offering landscape views from the large windows, this room features traditional Alentejo blankets. The private bathroom comes with a shower. Heating is provided during winter and a fan during summer. Please note that an extra bed can be accommodated upon request. ;
Two-Bedroom Apartment. This apartment has two double bedrooms, a bathroom, an equipped kitchen, a patio and a private entrance. Breakfast is served in the main building. One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom can be prepared as a double bed or twin beds ;
Quadruple Room with Shared Bathroom. Theof 2 double rooms are connected and share 1 bathroom with shower. Ideal for families with young children or groups. The unit has a mountain view, a common dining area, and fruit available for guests. One bedroom has two single beds and the other bedroom can be prepared as a double bed or twin beds. ;
Seven-Bedroom House. This spacious holiday home is comprised of 2 living rooms, 7 separate bedrooms and 6 bathrooms with a bath and free toiletries. Guests will find a stovetop, a refrigerator, kitchenware and a microwave in the well-fitted kitchen. The holiday home also has a barbecue. Among the room amenities are a private entrance, a tea and coffee maker, a dining area as well as a patio and garden views. The unit offers 17 beds.
